Watercolor

For the watercolor project, I decided to put my own spin on it. Originally I was going to do a landscape, but I just could not seem to get it the way I wanted it. Instead I did some watercolor blending and decided to do something with it afterwards. Since it was the day before Winter Break started, I was in the wintery mood, and decided to cut snowflakes out of the watercolored paper. The glitter on the snowflakes started as an accident, but I definitely think some of them turned out really well. I wish my cursive was better, though, because I feel like it would have made the entire project look better if I had better handwriting. All in all, I think it's a good message to send, and that the watercolored snowflakes fit really well.

Choose Your Genre Project

For this project, I did end up going along the lines of Roy Lichtenstein with the comic-y dot coloring. I feel like this could turn out a lot better if I take another go at it, mostly because I wasn't really sure how to do the dotting. The colors are a tad off in this picture, but I do really like it in real life. A lot of what I learned doing this was that sometimes your plans don't always work out and you need to be able to adapt to the situation. I really love the argyle-style background, but if I ever do it again, it will definitely be on a smaller scale.

Stamp Project

So, for my stamp project I decided to do two, because the bow stamp really didn't take that much effort. I was really excited to do the stamps because I never got to my sophomore year, and then screwy scheduling couldn't fit me into Art my junior year.

There isn't really much to learning how to stamp, although I did learn that sometimes a little really DOES go far, and it takes patience to get the stamp to fully transfer. I also learned how to mix colors to get the color that I wanted.

A Touch of Rebellion

Well, I got the tattoo on Friday, November 11th, and I love it. Jimmy at Permanent Images was the artist, and I am amazed. I always heard that dandelion tattoos are hard to make look good, but I think he did a fantastic job. I could not be more pleased with it. Below is the image he worked off of, and also pictures from before, during, and after. To the right is right before-- there was an issue with the needle and literally every time he went to make contact, it would shut off. Major anticipation build-up.

I didn't really have any specific place I wanted it, and I'm glad that he put it there, because if it had been moved two inches over, it would have been impossible to wash. I am enjoying being 18 very much. :)

Amateur at Her Best

Although I'm not so hot at using my hands and a pencil to create something awesome, I do like to think that I'm pretty handy with a camera and/or some ghetto editing software.

Nearing Adulthood, Please Unbuckle and Grow Up

Today is November third, which means that my 18th birthday is very, very close. As the first act of my adulthood, I plan on acquiring a tattoo. I've been thinking about this for the past year, and I've narrowed it down to two images that I really like and I believe will be somewhat timeless. I mean, getting it on such a landmark birthday will give it meaning forever, but I want something that I won't mind being there when I'm in my mid-40s.

I like the dandelions just because dandelions are one of the prettiest weeds I've seen. They reproduce by letting the seedlings go. Not to sound like a poetic hipster, but I like the idea of that. Me, being the seedling, and my parents, being the dandelion. Because I'm not a rock star or tattooed model, I'll probably end up getting the more inconspicuous lower hip one.

The second image was actually inspired by a henna tattoo that I decided on out of the blue. I have been a life-long attendee of Wheatland Music Festival, where they have many activities for every age group. At Middlegrounds, a place for older teens to mid-20-year-olds, they always have henna available. When it was my turn, I just decided on an adorable ribbon bow on my back, which is actually my profile picture for Blogger. I don't think these pictures do my idea much justice, but I think you get the gist. I definitely won't get it in the tramp stamp area. I'm actually not that sure where I would get the bow if I ended up getting it..

As of right now, I'm really leaning towards the dandelion, although I do have another week before I really have to decide.

I guess I was always that kid who did "Eeny Meeny Miney Moe" but was secretly changing the way it would go to favor the thing I actually wanted.

I love this movie.

Pulp Fiction is one of my top-five favorite movies, and I wish I had the drive to complete something like this.
